      And as a member of SAG and AFTRA, I thank you for that. (Jay and I have known each other for 73.7 years. I don't think I ever did and VO for him.       Yeah, due to all that, I now get a nice pension check for all of those years of spewing hot air somewhere near a microphone.....and some healthcare as well. Sadly, those are things that aren't around for non-union talent.         More ...

      Worth it.......a very good question. At my age, 68, having worked 22 years in radio and freelance, I now get a combined pension from SAG-AFTRA ofWorth it.......a very good question. At my age, 68, having worked 22 years in radio and freelance, I now get a combined pension from SAG-AFTRA of over $1400/mo. I also get some health insurance benefits, so for me, obviously, yes. I did heavy tonnage of spots and narrations after I got out of radio in 1968. I was working hard doing just VO until about 2004 when the market changed.

      Maybe look into Financial Core membership that allows you to work both union and non-union. I think FC members also accrue pension and health, but I'm not sure.         More ...
