PANASONIC announces that their first portable (DCC) player, the RQ-DP7, will be available this August. The playback only unit features analog cassette compatibility, built-in, rechargeable battery, a scrolling LCD readout allowing for information in excess of 12 characters to be read, a 3-key remote built into the headphone wire, and an optical, digital output for connection to other units. $549. SOUNDCRAFT will have some new consoles at the NAB show in Vegas next month. The line-up includes the B100 available in 8 or 16 input versions, the Spirit Folio with a starting price under $500, and the Sapphyre, Patchbay Version available in 20-52 input configurations. (818) 893-4351.

JBL will be showing their new 4400A Studio Monitors. The series features the 4408A (8-inch two-way), 4410A (10-inch three-way), and 4412A (12-inch three way) systems. (818) 893-8411.

MACKIE has begun shipping their new 24*8. The 24-channel, 8-bus console retails for a mere $3,995 and comes with all the bells and whistles.
