The Cassette - June 1999
Welcome to the June ’99 RAP Cassette, which kicks off on Side A with a
speaker-rattling demo from this month’s interview subject, Mark Driscoll.
The rest of Side B is filled with some exceptional promo work. Vito Gee
captures the Star Wars hype with a well done promo on cut 2. Cut 8, a timely
promo from Tom Robinson, was produced eight hours before Marilyn Manson was
to perform in a station sponsored concert. This was the day after the school
massacre in Littleton, Colorado, and the station was swamped with calls
about the show and the influence of Manson’s music on his listeners.
Side B gives us a good dose of creative commercial work on cuts 1 through
11. Cut 1 is the commercial referred to in this month’s Radio Hed column
from Hedquist Productions. Be sure to read the column! We finish off Side B
with five excellent sweeper/ID montages from around the globe!
Has something on a recent RAP Cassette helped you out of a creative
slump? Then it’s time for you to do your fair share and submit an item or
two for a future Cassette! The deadline for the July RAP Cassette is June
21.
